Mian Sarmad Hussain
Mian Sarmad Hussain is a modern south asian history and anthropology enthusiast who qualified Pakistan'/ Provincial Management Services (PMS) in 2016 and Central Superior Services Examination (CSS) in 2020. Sarmad holds a Master’s in Governance, Development and Public Policy from Institute of Development Studies Sussex University, UK. He is also a recipient of M. Shafi Gold Medal from Forman Christian College, Lahore where he earned his bachelor’s in History. He has worked both in Provincial Secretariat and as frontline bureaucrat in various districts of Punjab in various capacities like Assistant Commissioner Jhang, Assistant Commissioner, Sahiwal, Assistant Commissioner Chishtian etc. His academic interests include intra-institutional political economy in district administration, local governance, public sector finance, hybrid governance models and historical development of the administrative law in South Asia. Previously, Sarmad had gotten into a wide range of programs at various top institutes like London School of Economics (Global History), University of Oxford (Modern South Asia), Central European University (Comparative History), Hertie's School of Governance (MPP), University of Auckland (MA PP), Heidelberg Universitat (South Asian Studies), Bristol University (International Development) etc.
