Charisma Wafee

Charisma Wafee holds a Master’s degree in Linguistics and TESOL from the Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, where she graduated with a Gold Medal. She completed her Bachelor’s from Forman Christian College, Lahore, in English and Life Sciences. She currently serves at University of Management and Technology (UMT), Lahore, as a Lecturer where she teaches courses related to sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, stylistics and semantics to baccalaureate students of English Literature and Linguistics. Additionally, she has also worked as a digital course facilitator of the English Immersion Program at UMT, where the students complete a self-paced online course of English in order to enhance their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills without the impending anxiety of being in a classroom. The program has successfully improved many students’ communication skills and it has now become a compulsory subject for students of all departments in the university. Furthermore, Charisma has worked as a lecturer in University of South Asia, Lahore, for a year. She has also served as Teaching Assistant for English Language courses at Information Technology University, Lahore, where in addition to teaching, she offered workshops for resume building and editing. Simultaneously, she is the vice president of Khwarizmi Science Society (KSS), an NGO working to propagate scientific information, especially in the remote areas of Pakistan. At KSS, she has been working as a science communicator, science communication trainer, board member and also translated scientific information into local languages and simplified it for the common people to understand. Since joining KSS in November, 2016, she has been the core organizer of the Lahore Science Mela Series as well which is inspired from the World Science Festival.
